they should have covered it BEFORE spring break - back when the writers strike was going on and all we had were reruns anyway.

Timing is everything.

there are 4 weeks of school left now - 20 days. - colleges generally have about 1 week left.  spring break is OVER, and was over a week ago.

i have no real complaint over the report - but the timing was horrendously bad.

(just like when they wait until the commercials are OVER and then cut into the program for weather updates - heaven forbid you replace the little blurb about your news coverage that occurs at the end of almost every commercial break with a 5 second - current weather conditions blurb)

obviously you people who said that you don’t like how this teen drinking thing interupted the show don’t have teenagers or even kids… because if you did have kids or teenagers you would know how important it is to think about drinking under the age of 21… it is such a big problem in Mobile and you people are complaining about one stupid show that was a re-run… wow obviously y’all don’t care about our future and the future of Mobile.  who cares if it just one stinken show, with the internet like it is now you could have gotten it there if it had been a new episode. so you shouldn’t not watch wkrg just because they are trying to tell you what your future and the future of Mobile is up to.  get over yourselves know whats going on in this city not whats going on on some stupid re-run show that is on the internet or on dvd or something.  and yes spring break is over but that doesn’t mean that students are going to stop drinking right then and there. they drink every weekend during the school year and all through out the summer.  y’all need to get a clue and stop complaining about whats not important in the world and in this case the city.  excaim

actually I am a father of a 3 year old, and happen to be an 8th grade teacher in an inner city school in Mobile County.  I am WELL aware of the drinking and drug issues in Mobile County.  To assume that I am not a concerned individual simply because I disagree with the way that WKRG handles these things is similar to what all assumptions make people into - an a… (when you assume you make an a.. out of u and me.) The teen drinking coverage simply fits into a pattern of activities for WKRG which I find irritating, and which costs them viewers on MANY occasions.

the show was a re-run last night and it was a very important issue that they showed last night.  i know that being a teacher you may hear a lot of stuff from students but not all of the stuff you hear is going to be heard by parents.  the parents need to be told somehow and if their children are not going to tell them than somebody else should.. and yes i understand that you might want to watch the show but wkrg probably knew that it was going to be a re-run and that why they scheduled it then and not during a new show… and yes they might have done it before with new shows but i would rather know whats going on in the community not on some entertainment show that you can easily watch on the internet afterwords.... i mean people just act like the most important thing in the world to them is a show that comes on once a week and is really in all actuality pointless.. get over it… if you want them to change something tell them don’t say “hey i am not going to watch your channel anymore because you did one thing wrong” people make mistakes for cryin’ out loud. PLUS this wasn’t even a mistake this was a good idea to tell parents about what is going strait over their heads and even if they jumped it probably would not have come close to hitting them.

An 8th grade teacher complaining that an educational segment on a local network interrupted a night time soap opera re-run. Please tell me you are not serious. Buy a Tivo and help save a life.

If it took a televison special to tell you there is a teenage drinking problem, where you been? This problem has been around for a long time. Believe me I know. I wasn’t complaining about the special, it is the incessant weather interuptions.

yea it has been a problem and its not that hard to figure out that it is a problem but getting the details through a special like this is a lot easier than hearing it through a grape vine or having your child go to the hospital with alcohol poisoning and taking zanex while drinking is hard to comprehend when you did not even know that they drank… and yes that has happend
