Question for Mediacom Customers

If I thought I could get through to Mediacom myself without being put on hold for an hour and a half, I'd ask them this question directly. But since I know I can't, I'll ask y'all.

Do you ever get Spanish sub-titles on regular programming? This has been a continuing, intermittent problem for quite awhile...but only appears occasionally. Just when I think the problem has been solved, it'll pop up again.

It happens most frequently on Channel 3 broadcasts. Say I'm watching Desperate Housewives. At the bottom of the screen will be sub-titles, written in Spanish, for ALL the dialogue. When the programming cuts to commercials, they too are captioned. When that show is finished, or if I change channels during the broadcast, the captions go away.

Since this only happens infrequently, I know it's not some closed-captioning or language choice selection I've inadvertently programmed.

Any ideas?

Now that would be annoying. I have Satellite and have not experienced that. Maybe they are trying to see if anyone notices and they are going to sneak it in so that all the illegals can watch their station. Sorry, I had to say it.

You have Mediacom? In Mobile??? You must know Yoda... I have tried three different times to get them here in my home in Midtown...and so far...nothing! They have to be cheaper than Comcast. $109 per month for cable and internet is cutting into my gas fund! HELP!

I think MediaCom is the only cable provider that services the county outside of metro Mobile. The cost of my cable package is about the same as yours.

¡Incluso no tengo gusto de los subtítulos ingleses, mucho menos españoles!

I'm in Daphne and stuck with Mediacom. $109 a month for both cable and internet sounds like a bargain to me...I'm paying $148 a month and don't even have all the premium channels.

Of course, I do get the bonus of Spanish sub-titles, so I guess that's worth something.

That's one problem we don't have, thank goodness. New York based Mediacom was rated worst cable provider by Consumer Reports magazine. The only reason we keep it is for the government access channel(5). You can complain to County Commissioners about poor service: they have to renew their franchise every 5yrs or so. mad

Make sure your closed captioning is disabled on your tv and box.
