I was just wondering what consists of "trash" for trash pickup.

In my backyard, I have: a refridgerator, a couch, a metal shelf, a matress and two box spring matress things.

The guy who lived here before me didn't exactly move out, so I did it for him because he couldnt manage to do it within 6 months, and I was ready to move in. I left all of his stuff either in the shed or under a tarp. He came when I was not home, took what he wanted and left the above stated. I have been told that NONE of those can be left on the side of the street anymore becasue its illegal. And I have been told by a couple landfills around here that they will not take these items. I have NO idea what to do with this stuff, and I really do not want to waste the energy to drag these things to the curb from the back of the house, only to find out that the trash men will not pick them up.

Any suggestions?

Mobile County sets up a central collection area near my home several times during the year. You might want to give them a call and see when and where they will be doing another one near you.

It says that the last time they held one was in 2003??

I sent them an email though. If they won't hold one, maybe they can refer me to someone who does either pick it up, or can take it

The website just hasn't been updated. They setup near my house a couple of months ago and I would bet they would do it again in time for spring cleaning.

You can always check out the classifieds and see who will haul the stuff off, but that will cost ya.....

o gosh. I just got an email back from them saying that the email adress was not known. It wasnt an email I sent. I filled out a form on the website. Great.

Seriously, I will pay someone $100 dollars to come get this ####. Need some extra cash?

And even if they did come around here, I have a Ford Explorer Sport trac... the beds are WAY to small and its got a built in cover on it anyways. There is no way that I can load any of that stuff.

There are people that will come haul it away for you, but it is going to cost you. Once you figure in the cost of gas, whatever the dump is going to charge, and the cost of labor, etc......It's no wonder that you see so much trash piling up in some people yards.

A lot of the stuff sounds like it might be worth something to a scrap metal place. If that is true, then that might off-set the cost of having it hauled away. I have had problems getting rid of junk too. There is no easy answer. The city and the county should have some answers, since they are pushing for a cleaner, better kept environment in this area.
