for Boeing Corp. They're the only domestic large aircraft manufacturer left after "consolidation" (mergers) in the industry. Long gone are former competitors Lockheed and Mac Donald/Douglas and Northrup/Grumman can't do it alone anymore. Boeing can charge taxpayers anything if they have no competition. Maybe that's the way they want it!! A good conspiracy theory. What's really needed are more American builders to break Boeing's monopoly. Competition is good! :cheese:

The reason why Boeing doesn’t have any competition in the US for the Tanker contract is because of the same behavior they are doing now. They keep buying equipment from foreign companies reducing America’s capability to support it’s own military, reducing the number of higher paying jobs in the US. Just as the public is doing when they go to Wal-mart or other discount stores and buy cheaper products made outside of the US. Buy Chinese poison your children and your pets, give money for them to build their military to use against the US.
The majority of the money the military will spend for the tankers will go to France. When did France become a country that the US should support? The only time they did anything for the US was back in the 1700’s when they helped us with the revolution and the only reason they did that was because of their dislike for England. We bailed them out in WWII and haven’t got anything from them for that. Now they are supporting the Middle East for their own gain and contempt for the US.
IF Boeing gets the contract the majority of the money will stay in the US and congress should mandate that Boeing and it’s domestic suppliers perform all of the work inside our borders. It has been said that 40 states would benefit from the contract staying in the US, whereas if Airbus gets the deal only AL & OH will benefit.
Keep our tax dollars in the US, we have sent far too much overseas and got nothing in return, with the amount of money we are sending to Iraq all of the oil we get from there should be free.
Stop what should be considered economic treason by the military and keep the work inside our borders.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A small part of the wing on a U.S. Airways plane dislodged and hit a passenger window as it flew over Maryland, according to the airline.

No injuries were reported aboard the Boeing 757 twin-jet airliner traveling on Easter from Orlando to Philadelphia with 174 passengers and six crew members aboard, U.S. Airways said.

The plane landed safely in Philadelphia.

Takes a lickin and keeps on flyin.

If there is no competition then why isn't Boeing prime on the F-35 or F22? Why did Northrop get the B-2 and the UCAS Contracts? why is the CSAR-X still held up in protest? It's not like there aren't other American Companies that can build air frames.

The tanker decision will be completely a political one. It will depend on which side has the most political pull. It will have nothing to do with which side makes a better product for a cheaper price, or the geographic location of the workers and plants. That’s the nature of politics.

Having said that, I refer you back to this thread for a discussion on the consequences of buying “foreign.”
