Why is it some people are so willing to jump to the defense of people who align themselves with "white haters," but if the tables were turned, would be all over the skinheads or any other radical white supremacist group? It sickened me to read the comments of the New Black Panthers. To hear the cry of "racial" equality, yet have this very hate filled discriminatory biased group is appalling. Whether he "supports" their view or not, it is concerning how many people who are "associating" with him, are anti-American radical liberals.
His statement about his white grandmother is ridiculous. Black people will tell you too, that depending on how someone is dressed or whatever, they are afraid to walk past them on the street. Would I be afraid to walk past a well dressed professional looking black male? No, and if the whole story were told-she probably wasn't either. But when you see someone who appears to be a thug, you definitely have your guard up, whether you, or they, are black or white. Is that profiling? No, just common sense. I would be that way whether it was a white thug, black thug, Mexican thug or any other thug. I would love to know the context of his grandmother's words-it could have just as easily been as I described above, yet for the sake of a speech, made to sound oh so humble and forgiving.
I thought the statements given by Trent Lott were on target about the "speech." Essentially, he said it was a good speech for political rhetoric. If you had a pastor that had opposing views from yours on a regular basis, you would find a different church. If it was a one time thing, that they said something offensive, you would approach your pastor and tell them you disagree with them and do not support that message. Yet neither of these things was done, until it became public knowledge and these hate filled messages made the media spotlight. Will this same person sit back and not defend America in times of crisis, or be too jelly-bellied to stand up to other politicians for what is right and in the best interest of our country? Or will he let people "lead" him, while he claims the title of America's leader?
No candidate is perfect, just as no person is perfect. But look at the track records of all candidates, and there is no contest in my opinion.
