Public television is in a very sad state of affairs, as are many other things. I work at a computer all day every day, so the last thing I want to do at night is log on, especially just to make a comment. Most of us cannot afford cable TV, and many people I know who have it say it is not worth the price. I happen to agree because I also had it at one time.
Work is frustrating enough, but public television viewing options are worse. At 8 PM tonight, I was so very fortunate to have the choices of watching "The Biggest Loser", "American Idol", "Big Brother", or everyone's favorite, "Dancing With the Stars". Wow. I can hardly wait to get home.
I don't know about everyone else, but I am extremely weary of so-called "reality" and "fantasy" TV. These attempts at programming offer no relief from our daily stress and disbelief in the true reality of our times.
We receive an hour and a half of news at 5 PM, then another half hour at 10 PM. It is mostly all bad. This alone is enough to drive anyone over the edge.
There is good entertainment out there, i.e movies, documentaries, etc. Obviously, WKRG is not the only station involved. It was, however, the quickest one to register to make a comment. I believe that public televison should accept the responsibility of providing some sort of diversion.
Thanks for listening. It is now 9:33 PM. I guess I'll check the channels again, before the news, or just read another book.
