The press should report the wrongdoings of public officials. The Governor of New York is the story not why his wife is standing by him and what her feelings are. We have lost a sense of decent boundaries. In the same vein, what happens to Brittney Spears is none of our business - its tragic that anyone thinks it is.
Well, at least Spitzer had the good sense to go ahead and resign. What an idiot, to think he could get away with such a thing. And how irksome that his timid little milquetoast of a wife stands besides him in apparent support. What is it with politicians and their wives? Are the wives so enamored with their cushy life they'll put up with any crap from their husbands, any amount of embarassment and humiliation?
And it's not even the prostitution ring that's scandalous to me, it's the fact that Spitzer somehow saw himself as too clever to get caught. Honestly, men and their egos. And women and their non-egos.
