so instead of one sign capable of cycling through multiple ads, you'd rather see 6 or 7 additional billboards that use 6 to 7 times as much paper, not to mention the extra ink, or the extra electricity used to run the printing press for each ad? And, although I've never inspected one up close, I would assume they don't run on gas or oil. So I'm not sure how that comment is relevant.
Regardless, companies have found a more efficient way to advertise, while cutting down production costs and waste. This hardly seems like a waste to me.

Though, I do remember the first time I ever saw one. I was driving down Cottage Hill Rd one night and almost got in a car accident because of it. Scared me half to death. I've gotten over the "awe" of it now. But, I do still see people staring at them. They don't seem like they are very safe in that aspect, just from observance though.
