police and fire protection by city hall politicians despite objections from irate citizens: it’s outside city limits and pays no property or sales tax at all!! Like everyone else they pay electric bills—reportedly $37,000/mo—but 90% of that goes to Alabama Power to buy the “juice”!(city only keeps $2,000). At this rate, it’ll be 10 years before they repay us for the transformers and other electrical equipment (reportedly $200K worth) citizens had to buy to hook them up! What a sweetheart deal—no wonder people are suspicious!
If Wal-Mart (or anyone else) wants to continue receiving city services, they need to annex into the city and start paying their fair share of taxes instead of mooching off beleagured in-city residents already reeling from huge property tax hikes
wholy-cow!
