Why is the government so focused on Health insurance? I for one have no problem paying for my Health Insurance since this insurance is one I actually use. If you are paying a $1000 plus for insurance and actually using it why do you not sit down and add up how much the insurance company is actually paying for your Dr. visit and medications Vs. how much you are paying them on a early basis. Even if you pay $1000 dollars a year for 7 years and never use it, do people not understand that One serius hospital stay can run well over $10,000 or more. Heck when my wife delivered our son the total hospital bill's where well over $20,000. It will take us well over 15yrs for repay the insurance company for that one visit.

Now, Home owners Insurance. I personally pay roughly $1300 a year for my home owners and have yet to use it once. Now where is the pay off there? However, God forbid if my house where to ever burn down the insurance company would be out well over $100,000 for that one claim. As you can see it would take me paying on my policy for well over 85 years just for the insurance company to make their money back. I have a deduction of $1000, which mean I will not be making a claim for every little thing that may happen to my home.

So stop complaining about insurance cost and sit back and add up the risk the Insurance companies are actually taken in order to insure you.

Secondly, why shouldn't the insurance company charge a person a higher policy if the company is losing money hand or fist because that person wants to visit the Dr. office everytime they do not feel well.
Face it folks the insurance companies are just like any other business they do expect to turn a profit.

If you owned a business would you keep spending money out of your pockets just to keep a customer that is cost you way more money then what they are actually paying you. Or would you increase your rates in order to atleast break even?

Why isn't this administration going after the Drug companies harder than what they are, isn't that what they kept screaming at Bush about? I guess that wouldn't be a good thing since it would hurt this administrations core reason for socializing health care.

My family has been a long time customer of ALFA insurance. We have our home and cars covered with Alfa. Now the house we live in is in my grandmothers name as well as my husbands name but the insurance was only in my grandmothers name. When we had the house put in both names we checked with Alfa and they said that everything would be fine and to leave it the way it is. So for several years things go along fine. We have an insurance update, choose not to take the 2% hurricane deductible but to pay a little more and have a flat $250 deductible. Well we thought this was going to come in handy when Ivan hit till we went to make our small claim on some minor roof damage and our evacuation expenses. Alfa refused to pay for evacuation even though we were in mandatory evacuation, would not pay to have a tree removed even though it was on an outbuilding that was covered by insurance and only paid $4.75 a sq. ft. for the roof. Anybody who had to have a roof replaced after Ivan knows that the going price was 8+ a sq. ft.
Then the prices for insurance starts to jump and Alfa starts to talk about canceling insurance policies south of 98. We received a letter of cancellation from Alfa and called to find out why. The first response I got shocked me. I was told that my grandmother was dead! Well since I was sitting there looking at her I have to say that I was confused. So I asked the agent to repeat what she had just told me. Once she said again that my grandmother was dead, I told her that she needed to send help and fast. She asked me why and I told her that if my grandmother is dead that I have a dead woman sitting on my couch looking at me and I am scared. Well she didn't take that to well so she came up with the excuse that my husbands name was not on the Insurance policy. So? Put him on it. Well that will call for a credit check. So? Do it. Took a while but I won that round.
Then a few months later we get a notice that they are no longer going to honer the $250 deductible and that there is now a mandatory 5% hurricane deductible. There is also no longer any coverage for wind damage. WHAT?!?! Why have insurance during a hurricane if there isn't wind coverage?
Well this is all fine and good, because this dropped our Insurance payments from almost 8 grand a year to 2.5 grand a year, but if another hurricane hits and we have any damage to your home we will not be able to afford to fix the damage.
This is just the crap that I am going through with Alfa with homeowners, I wont even go into what I have been going through with them since I was in an accident back in October, but I can say it has been pure hell.

Anyone else getting very concerned about the potential government take over of our personal health care? It is bad enough that the Democrats are pushing this now, when they know full well it will add another trillion plus to the national debt. What is even more troubling is that they are point blank lying about the content of the various bills floating around in the House and Senate.

When the President of the United States goes on record with a series of falsehoods about this deal, we all should ask WHY! He calls them myths, but other, non-partisans point out that many of these “myths” are true.

Abortion: Obama says the plan will not pay for abortions. Factcheck.org says that is not correct.

http://factcheck.org/2009/08/abortion-which-side-is-fabricating/

Illegal Immigrants: Obama insists that illegal immigrants will not be covered by the House plan. Others disagree, “Yes it will, says Congressional Research Service”

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/Obamacare-wont-cover-illegal-immigrants--55021087.html

Death Panels: This term was not meant to be taken literally, but rather metaphorically as a concise description of a mindset running throughout the proposed bill. The Department of Veterans Affairs “Death Book for Veterans” epitomizes this line of thinking and further enforces the apprehension felt by seniors across the country.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204683204574358590107981718.html

There have also been Democrats that have gone on the record admitting that health care rationing is part of the overall goal.

"There's going to be some people who are going to have to give up some things, honestly, for all of this to work," Markey said at a Congress on Your Corner event at CSU. "But we have to do this because we're Americans."

http://www.coloradoan.com/article/20090827/NEWS01/908270335

Private Insurance: Over and over again we have heard Obama say that we can keep our private insurance and our doctors, but common sense tells us otherwise. No private for profit industry can compete with a subsidized governmental not for profit entity. It just doesn’t work.

With so much misinformation flying around one has to wonder what this is really all about. Given the fact that polls show that the majority of Americans are satisfied with their health care insurance and do not support this governement intrusion one really has to wonder what the true motives are in all of this. Could it all simply be a payoff for unions?

"Buried on page 65 of the 1,017 pages of HR 3200, the House's health care reform bill, and in a Senate bill as well, stands a $10 billion entitlement to keep pensions for unions like United Auto Workers as shiny and gold-plated as the day Detroit executives signed off on them."

These are scary times in our American political landscape.

Anyone else following this story? Democrats have effectively stripped 1st Amendment rights away from Humana. The insurance company can no longer let seniors know that their Medicare benefits are going to be seriously reduced under ObamaCare. Of course, AARP is free to spread as much BS as they can muster, because they are supporting the government plan. Why do they support it? Well, AARP also sells insurance and it is to their advantage for Medicaid Advantage to disappear.

How can anyone trust these politicians we now have in power?
Those two words were heard echoing through the congressional chamber, during Obama’s address to a joint session of congress. The words caused a lot of controversy and put almost two million dollars into Rep. Joe Wilson’s re-election fund. But, yesterday Obama was asked about the potential tax increases contained in the Baucus Bill and he denied that there would be any additional taxes on the middle class. George Stephanopoulos pushed the point and even quoted a passage from the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Obama condescendingly said quoting from a dictionary only proved that Stephanopoulos’ argument was weak.

So, is Obama ignorant of the facts, or is he LYING? Or, maybe he just thinks the American public is so stupid that they can’t understand a tax, when they see a tax.

In the Baucus Bill on page 29, Subtitle D under the title Shared Responsibility the Excise Tax is clearly defined. How can we trust anything about this government take over of our Health Insurance, when the President and all his cronies refuse to be honest about the intent? It comes across like a shady used car salesman trying to convince you that the knocking sound under the hood is perfectly normal and has a good beat. It just don’t jive!!!!
yea i know health insurance is a big issue. Thats why people need to e-mail or mayor and council memebers . thats what this e-mail is about ( the mayor and council members are talking about raising monthly deductions, co-pays, deductables, the city says its because of the cost of living.Yea right. The city has plenty of money if they would spend it right instead of some of these special intrest groups getting what they want while city employees get the shaft. I thought this new mayor was going to make positive changes not negitive ones. how can this city keep good employees without good benifits. Im asking all who read this to send the mayor and the council members a e-mail and tell them to quit messing with city employees benifits. thats all they have they sure dont get the raises they desirve.

This Wall Street Journal article is a must read for those concerned about the move to nationalize health care!

"Far from being a scare tactic, this is a logical conclusion based on experience and common-sense. Once health care is a "free good" that government pays for, demand will soar and government costs will soar too. When the public finally reaches its taxing limit, something will have to give on the care and spending side. In a word, care will be rationed by politics.

Mr. Obama's reply is that private insurance companies already ration, by deciding which treatments are covered and which aren't. However, there's an ocean of difference between coverage decisions made under millions of voluntary private contracts and rationing via government. An Atlantic Ocean, in fact. Virtually every European government with "universal" health care restricts access in one way or another to control costs, and it isn't pretty."
