Anyone else having problems with this web site? It scrolls very slowly and locks up constantly. And, this morning there is no way to comment on the storm topics. I'm running Vista and IE8.

I find it odd that Louisiana has declared a national emergency, Mississippi is closing down and getting prepared, Baldwin County is closing down and planning emergency evacuation routes, Florida is closing down and handing out sandbags and good old Mobile is ignoring this storm. Why is that?

Don't the brilliant emergency management people in Mobile realize if a storm even comes close to this area certain roads will be under water and crossing several of the bridges will be far from safe?

        To Whom It May Concern:

Something has been on my mind, yet I have been afraid to say anything. This is for two reasons; the first is I am homeless so I figured people wouldn’t listen to me. And secondly, I didn’t know how to say what I was thinking until recently. What I have to say is simple yet it takes explaining to be understood. To get rid of the problem with the homeless you must first get rid of the homeless. There it is, easier said then done, but let me explain.
I have been on the streets for six months. Within that time I have noticed a big problem; the problem, I believe, isn’t homelessness itself but those who are homeless. On the streets you can break the homeless population in to two categories; those who are homeless by choice, and those who are homeless by circumstance. The ones who are victims of circumstance have lost jobs due to cut-backs or have been injured to where they are deemed “un-hirable” yet they are not disabled enough for Social Security to give them a check. What happens is the money they have dries up they can’t pay bills and end up broke and on the street. The ones who choose to remain homeless, have no problems getting a SSI check, often times working day labor as well, or finding some other means of making money (i.e. panhandling).
The problem, as I see it, is the “professional” homeless people. The “pros” get money and instead of using the money to better their lives by getting off the streets they use the money to support their habits, be it drugs, alcohol or both. When the “pros” get there checks they disappear from the streets until the money is gone only to go back to the usual spots to eat and sleep until their next “payday”.
The places that help the homeless are being taken advantage of by the “pros”. These places were once designed to be temporary aid to those that were on the streets, but they have become fodder for the “pros”. The help they once intended on doing is now the very reason the “pros” stay on the streets. Why work, when they are given money; Why pay rent, when they are able to sleep in shelters or find “camps” to stay at; Why buy food, when this place serves breakfast, that place serves lunch and this other place serves dinner for free.
The government and the good-hearted people have allowed this to happen; then when those who truly need the help come along they are given a number and told to wait in line, only to be given information about places that will no longer help those who are homeless because they have been burned by the “pros” too many times. So now everyone they help has to fit criteria that a good percentage of homeless people won’t fulfill.
As someone who is homeless by circumstance, I believe that part that hurts the most is when I become just “another homeless person” and have to hear what others are saying; “See that person over there, they are homeless.” “If you don’t do drugs you won’t end up like that person.” “You’re only homeless because you are too lazy to get a job like everyone else.”
To get rid of the problem with the homeless you must first get rid of the homeless. We need, as a nation, to find a way to reduce or remove the “professional” homeless people, they have taken advantage of everything that was once intended to help.
Saturday afternoon, just a couple of days after the terrorist attack on Ft Hood, by one of our commander-in-chief's own officers, our president has more important things on his agenda, like his health care plan and Nancy Pelosi's ego massage.

Our beloved messianic commander-in-chief found time to address the Congress and make a news speech pushing for a positive vote on his CommieCare health insurance takeover, while dozens of soldiers and civilians lay in a hospital in Texas.

Please note that he has not even one Republican in Congress supporting CommieCare, and even a few Democrat deserters, though not enough to stop passage.

Pelosi's swooning over the thought of wielding this much power is sickening, and to think that she is only 2 heartbeats from the presidency.

Like the newspaper said just a few weeks ago, Obama is just getting warmed up.
This is typical of the liberal ideaology. They want to kick him off the team for using free speech but never said a word when he was being charged with assault. You can beat your wife but you better not say anything negative about homosexuals.

        FOX NEWS Gains Occult Status

After repeated verbal attacks against the U.S. Government, FOX NEWS - a political arm of the far right, is considered anything but a news organization.

After meeting with regular viewers of FOX NEWS, this writer considers FOX NEWS to be an OCCULT. These viewers are brainwashed into believing all the lies that they are told, and to feed off the hatred feed to them by FOX NEWS.

This platform is especially effective, during hard times, in recruiting those who prefer to blame others for their misfortune rather than make necessary changes required to compete in a world market.

One bright spot is the fact that FOX NEWS is a cable channel and any regular FOX NEWS VIEWER using a standard cable box or a satellite box with a LAN connection can be EASILY IDENTIFIED and PROFILED and based on certain viewing and purchasing metrics they will be graded and placed into a threat analysis data base that will rank their level of threat against the United States. In other words if you like to watch FOX NEWS you may be the bad guy.

I think it's ridiculous how some of the far left liberals are as usual attempting to turn something like this into a race issue. The poster depicts a Witch Doctor who just so happens to be black with Obama's head photo shopped on his shoulders. The message is "Obama Health care, coming to a clinic near you". I interpret it as saying there will be more of a primitive level of care saying we will be moving backwards instead of forward in a productive advancement. I do not find this poster racist at all with Obama and his Health care change being associated with it but if I were to act just as simple and foolish as these race card addicts, I may be inclined to pull a card myself. I could draw attention to the probability that white people are obviously not considered good enough and are always left out of the Witch Doctor category. <sarcasim> Are whites not good enough? Why are they not included and would this have been an issue had the doctors body been anything other than black? What if Sarah Palin's head was photo shopped on the body of a black woman? Any problem from the liberals there? Barack is black and his head was photo shopped on a black man's body. How is that racist when keeping in context of the intended message?
This incident as with several others have proven to me that Obama has racially divided this country to dangerous levels within his first year and by the time his term ends, we could very well be in a civil unrest we've not seen since the 50's and 60's. This whole race card baloney is doing more harm to those who pull it than it helps but it's only the blacks who seem to have the right to speak their mind and voice their opinions without being called victims when in fact they are usually the first to reveal their hypocrisy and hatred towards every other race in this country but their own.
IRONIC ENDING........The #1 killer of black men between the ages of 17 - 25 is the black man. Just don't call them black or refer them to anything black or you may be called a racist. WTH?
THIS IS OUT OF CONTROL.
