The Escambia County Sheriff's Office has identified a woman's body found behind Woodham Middle School Tuesday. 29-year old Mindy Huffman was found in a wooded area in the Willow Tree Acres subdivision. Investigators are ruling Huffman's death a homicide.

"I was pretty much shocked," says Jonathan Curlee, who lives in Willow Tree Acres. "This neighborhood is quiet. It worries me a lot, I have little niece's and there's a lot of kids in the area and just hearing something like that has made everybody tense around here, they're not wanting their kids to come out as much since yesterday."

"One of our neighbors said they saw a suspicious car drive through about one or two in the morning," says Robert Vicars who lives near the crime scene. "It's depressing, really, it's horrible I can't believe someone would do that, I hope whoever did it comes forward."

At this point sheriff's investigators simply don't have any other information about the homicide. Detectives don't have Huffman's last-known address or have a motive or suspect in the case. Call the Escambia County Sheriff's Office at 850-436-9620 if you have any information regarding Huffman's death.

So sad. hehe Some people don’t need to even handle an electric chainsaw. I wonder if he decided to cut the tree down just for the reporter?

Sirk, someone who shall remain nameless sent me an e-mail and said that the tree actually fell on his home! OOPS It came from a pretty reputable source! HINT HINT! He was there!! ^^^^ shut eye

I know there are different amps of electric chainsaws, but if you are going to cut a tree that big around he could have used an axe and probably got it down faster. It basically looked like he was using a filet knife to cut down a tree and sounded that way too. JMO

Funny that they would have this woman’s name and age, yet know nothing about her.  Did they find her DL at the scene?

OFF TOPIC: Pat Peterson, you should tell whoever was cutting that tree that they cut the wrong angle after cutting their wedge. It does no good to cut the wedge, if the cut on the opposite side still starts towards the wedge than points towards the ground. The wedge is completely unnecessary at that point! They might as well have just cut the angle starting at the top, and angling down; that is unless 80% of the weight was on the same side as the wedge, which I’m doubting looking at the size of the tree!

HELLO MR. VICKERS!!!  You have on clothes, the reporter has on long pants and a leather jacket, IT IS DECEMBER, did it ever occur to you to put some CLOTHES on that baby before bring it out in the elements?????  Just curious, think about your 5 minutes of fame when you have a screaming baby that has a fever or runny nose or ear ache.  Was it really worth risking that precious little one’s health just to get you face on the news for a few seconds????  JMO
