TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - While you're out holiday shopping, you
can take some comfort in knowing that the price you're being
charged at the cash register is likely to be pretty accurate.
The Florida Department Agriculture and Consumer Services
released Wednesday the results of its pre-holiday scanner survey.
Sixty-three stores in Florida were tested for accuracy. The error
rate was just over 1 percent.
Even better news is that nearly half of the errors favored the
customers.
Department spokesman Terry McElroy says customers should still
be checking that they are being charged the correct amount by
looking at the scanning equipment or checking your receipt.
