NAVARRE, Forida - The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force captured a man wanted for a 14 year old double murder.According to the warrant, Charles Tooley is accused of badly beating three people in Coosa County, Alabama and then leaving them in a building that he set on fire. Two of them died.
Marhals learned Cooley had been living in Navarre, Florida for the last couple of years. So Marshals and members of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office began surveillance at a home on Branch Avenue. They arrested Cooley while he was working on a truck.
“He definitely had a surprise look on his face,” said Task Force Coordinator Dominic Guadagnoli. “It seemed as though he thought it was some kind of prank and didn’t take us seriously at first.” “I think it sank in after a few moments of sitting in the back of a cruiser,” said Guadagnoli.
Cooley was booked into the Santa Rosa County where he will wait until his extradition back to Alabama.
