TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - It could soon become harder for teensto get a tan in the Sunshine State.
A Senate committee advanced a bill Wednesday that would ban
people under age 16 from using tanning salons.
Florida is among 17 states this year, including Hawaii,
considering laws that would restrict indoor tanning by youths.
Proposals range from requiring tan-seeking teens to get notes from
parents or doctors to banning them outright - notes or not.
Salon owners argue the laws are unfair because their beds are
safe for minors.
