there have been a lot of negative thoughts about spring breaks here but i was in panama city this spring break and it wasnt as bad as people are making it seem. a few terrible things happened and it makes it seem worse than it was. yes people drank a lot more than they should have and people did a lot of dumb things but im in college now and people drink just as much while there at school as they do when there on spring break. so spring break isnt much different than being at school. a lot of people i know that are in college drink 4 to 5 times a week if not more and they drink heavily almost all of those nights. im not saying any of this is right but its what happens and no ones going to be able to stop it.

bobcat, a few years ago, i saw a special on tv about spring breaks. reall horror stories from all over. one in vegas is still insolved. yes they have them to. the one is mexico still to this day haunts me. i think with age comes wisdom. i just hope that all those that choode to go are very careful. p.s. how did you learn to balance that hammer?

rosepetal, I appreciate that and we had no problems in the NOLA groups, ( except for lots of splinters and a few black fingernails before learning how to balance a hammer). I believe the Spring Break at the beach theme has taken on a new meaning and when the final count comes in each year from each cities records reporting DUI’S, Fights, Alcohol poisoning, Drug overdoses, rapes,(consensual or not) Arrests etc.
It just makes me wonder if it was really worth it. That’s all.
I understand to each their own and I hope they all think before they act because the WKRG photo to the right of the article above gives a questionable visual of doubt.

Bottom Line: It’s awful what happened and he is in my prayers!!

That’s awesome that they volunteered their time to do something like that!! I totally commend them!! It’s also good to know that they chose to spend their time that way, they weren’t forced!! However, it’s not right to pass judgement on the people who choose to spend their time doing something else!! I was in Youth leadership Mobile when I was in high school and that’s all we did, was volunteer work!! I did it because I wanted to do something for our community and not because my Mom forced me to!! That’s just my opinion!! I commend the volunteers everywhere for the work they do!!

bobcat, i really really respect your opinion, but i think a city that has to have the national guard to patrol is not the safest place for a teen either. i commend you on your service, kind of figured you would be the type to do something worthy like that.
