DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A school bus driver was suspended 20
days without pay after telling students she'd stop on railroad
tracks and leave them there if they didn't shape up.
Students complained about 39-year-old Genorris Davis-Summers a
month ago. A Volusia County Schools investigative summary released
Monday said she threatened students who were "talkative" and
"making noises."
She allegedly told the middle school riders she would get off
the bus if a train was coming, but leave them there.
Davis-Summers denied threatening the students, though the event
was captured on video.
The driver said she didn't stop on the tracks, and the kids who
alleged she did should be punished.

Hi, I laughed so hard when I stumbled upon my daughters post about me a few minutes ago. I’m the Mom who slammed on the brakes when the kids wouldn’t shut up. HAHAHAHAHAHA

And this is why my mean, screaming little brat in the back seat….is now all grown up and training to be a flight nurse and did not turn out an unruly, inconsiderate, self centered/absorbed person….... and I’m very proud of her.

Would I do it again?.....Ask her younger sisters….  smile

Determined one, so if your child is misbehaving no one but you can correct him, right? So if the child misbehaving distracts the driver, he wrecks and kills a couple of kids, because he/she cannot threaten punishment, then that is ok with you also?

Haha..when I was little and my sisters and I would fight…my mama yelled at us that she was going to do the same thing ( or other times she just nailed the brakes and let our seatbelts jerk our mouths shut. It stopped us from yelling. Now as an adult, I know how unnerving it is to try and concentrate on the road with yelling bickering little loudmouths in the back. I don’t agree with her suspension…she should have just stopped by the police station as said earlier….my bus driver did that once and it scared the heck out of me!

Being a mother myself, I would not want the bus driver to threaten my child like that. That is for me to do! She was unprofessional and should have received a reprimand for that, but also the kids that were causing the commotion should be removed from the bus. If the driver is caught on camera, surely the students are too.

Briarrose, you hit the nail on the head!!  I have made similar threats to my kids when they have acted out, especially when I’m driving.  It is unnerving when the 2 of them start their bickering!  I can’t begin to imagine what it must be like with 30 or more!  Maybe next time she should just pull over at the police department & drop them all off!  Depending on the circumstances, they could be charged with Disorderly Conduct, Harassment & possibly even Reckless Endangerment.

The Wife, the last laugh will be on the parents and the kid. I am sure they know he’s a nightmare and he will have a nightmare keeping up with the Jones’s with that kind of attitude.

There was a child on my school bus several years ago with an open pocket knife. This was a private bus service. I took the knife away from the child and gave it to the company owner. He told me to give it back to the child the next day. The child was never punished. That child laughed at me when I returned it to him. This was an elementary school student. Not long after that, I quit the job. On a moving bus, that child or another could have been killed, yet I was made to look like an idiot.

Oh please. So the woman made an idle threat to a bunch of unruly brats.  Like all their mothers don’t make similar comments at home? This bus driver isn’t perhaps the most tactful person, but she didn’t do anything that merits job suspension. I agree with the above comment that points out how badly many children behave on the school bus.

Here’s a story idea for WKRG: Encourage bus drivers to write in and tell you the things they deal with on a daily basis. Kids are out of control on school buses. When drivers report misbehavior to parents, the parents often express their inability to “do anything with” the children at home either.
Parents who teach their children how to behave would be appalled by what their children see on a school bus.

So did the video show her threatening the kids?
