Tuesday 4:48 p.m.The Escambia County Sheriff's Office confirms Jeff Kimbrough has died. The State Attorney is upgrading charges against Ellis McArthur to second degree murder.
Monday 6:02 p.m.
A Pensacola father is struggling to stay alive after being shot in the face. The shooting happened after a reported argument between Jeff Kimbrough and 17-year old Ellis McArthur. Kimbrough claims McArthur stole his son's wallet.
It's still not clear how the wallet of Leoric Nettles was stolen in the first place but his father was trying to get it back for him. On Sunday, neighbors say McArthur showed up at the Heritage Oaks Mobile Home Park in Warrington with a gun.
When Kimbrough asked about the wallet, witnesses say McArthur shot him in the face. Nettles believes his dad took the bullet that was intended for him. "He was waiting for me to go into the house and sit down and he was gonna shoot me. So, it kinda took a toll on me, like it makes it seem like my dad took the bullet for me."
Kimbrough is on life support at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. McArthur is in jail charged with attempted murder.
The two were reportedly fighting as a local church was holding an outdoor worship service for the tenants. The service was set up because the landlord hadn't paid the water bill and the service was shut off. Church members were handing out food and drinks to help the tenants cope with the lack of utilities.
