BREAKING NEWSA grand jury has indicted six men and a teenager on two counts of capital murder for the deaths of Byrd & Melanie Billings.
The indictments give State Attorney Bill Eddins the option of seeking the death penalty against Leonard Gonzalez, Jr, his father, Wayne Coldiron, Donnie Stallworth, Frederick Thornton, Gary Sumner and 16-year-old Rakeem Florence.
All seven suspects were also indicted on one count of home invasion robbery. They'll be in court for formal arraignments on the new charges Thursday.
Byrd and Melanie Billings were killed July 9 in at their sprawling west Escambia County home. Surveillance cameras captured men dressed as ninjas and wearing black masks entering the home, stealing a safe and leaving in less than four minutes.
