Senior Citizen Stealing Copper

Florida Pensacola  Police say a 71-year-old man stole 15 pounds of copper from a utility pole.

Copper thefts are so common these days, they don't suprise anyone. But the age of the copper thief caught by Escambia County deputies just might.

Someone called 9-1-1 around 8:00 p.m. Saturday about someone cutting copper from a utility pole on Barrancas, across from the Pensacola Country Club. When deputies arrived, the say 71-year-old Phillip McSwain was holding a cutting tool in one hand and a piece of copper wire in the other. Deputies found another 15 pounds of copper on his bicycle.
