Santa Rosa ER Shuts Down For Hours

MILTON, Florida - Update 9 p.m.
Hospital officials say the emergency room has re-opened.

6:46 p.m.
According to hospital officials, the emergency room at Santa Rosa County Medical Center should re-open around 8 p.m. as staff try and decontaminate the area as a safety precaution.

As we first told you as Breaking News on News 5 at 6, Santa Rosa Emergency Operations Officials say a man walked into the ER around 4:30 this afternoon complaining of numbness in his right hand. The man also said he had come into contact with a white powdery substance.

The hospital shut down the ER and isolated patients and staff. Officials have now confirmed the man did not have any white powdery substance on his hand. As a precaution, he and seven other people will go through a contamination process.
