Police Standoff Ends In Milton

Florida Gun  SWAT Team called in after gunshots fired at police officers in Milton. Students who live nearby kept at school until safe. UPDATE

UPDATE: News 5 Reporter Diana Lucio is on the scene. She reports that after the SWAT Team used tear gas, the standoff has ended peacefully. More information on wkrg.com and on News 5 at 10.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office says investigators following up on a residential burglary case encountered gunfire when they approached a home in the 6000 block of Trail Ride South in Milton. While investigators were trying to locate a suspect, they encountered gunfire coming from a bedroom window. The gunfire continues when investigators entered the home. No officers were struck and the immediately left the house to set up a periminter. A SRCSO SWAT Team has been called.

SRCSO says school buses transporting students to the Round Up Valley Area of Milton have been stopped and will return children to school until the situation is safe. will not be allowed to travel due to safety concerns. Round Up Valley includes home near the standoff area.
