SACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A middle school teacher in the Pensacola
area has been disciplined for using a racial slur in a letter
complaining about a custodian's work.

Forty-six-year-old Jennifer Dickens referred to the janitor at Ransom Middle School as "the N" and "Miss Maid" in the e-mail to an assistant
principal. Dickens is white; the custodian is black.

A spokesman for the Escambia County School District says Dickens
was disciplined for the March 12 letter. However, he would not
specify what action the school took.

Dickens made a public apology in an e-mail to the local
newspaper. The teacher called her actions "stupid" and
inexcusable."

That’s not true. A email is not a letter. Read the 1st Amendment and see what is says about internet speech. She could fight this and win. Did she authorize the release of a private email to the public? She has rights too, what are they going to do next have mind readers and conscience readers to say you’re a racist?

It was a “letter” according to the story, and when ink meets paper it becomes whatever the recipient wants it to become.

An email is a private tool of communication. This should have never been made known to anyone except the recipitent. Black rappers and comedians use the N word all the time and nobody says a word. Where is the blacks outrage when they use the word?

If this lady feels this in her heart she shouldn’t say it out loud.  This is really sad that she went that low and thought that wouldn’t anything be done about it.  I do feel better about it though that she apologized.
