SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Cyclists aren't happy with plans
for an 8 mph speed limit along a popular Walton County walking and
bike path.
A public hearing on the matter is planned for Tuesday. About 20
cyclists gathered along the beach-front path on County Road 30-A in
protest last weekend.
The 19-mile path winds along the Gulf of the Mexico through
several popular tourists areas including the town of Seaside.
Walton County attorney W.C. Henry proposed the speed limit because
so many pedestrians and cyclists share the path. Henry says he had
no idea his plan would cause such an uproar.
