Lock away the weapons and ammunition. Temptation is too much for some of these children. I am sorry for your loss.

I agree w/ SouthernMama82. teach your kids what the right & wrong ways are to use a gun!

what is the point in having a gun for protection if it is unloaded? if someone breaks in your home are you going to say wait let me load my gun?? you teach children NOT to touch guns! I have a three year old & bought him a toy gun for christmas when he opened it he threw it at his daddy & said daddy this is yours I can’t touch guns!! this is the parents fault! if people would take time w/ their kids, teach the right from wrong their would be alot less accidents! Guns aren’t the problem it is the parents in every single situation involing guns & minors!

I agree Kx..there’s no excuse for a child to be killed by his parents own gun.  Espically that of an officer, he should have known way better to leave it in the reach of the kids. My parents always had different hand guns and shot guns, however, they were locked away in the gun cabinet with no key for us to find. which is a good thing, because I was the only girl with three brothers and back then they used to really tick me off! lol Sad news here..many blessings to this family!

This is why guns should not be kept loaded in a household with children.
