Minivan & Two Cars Hit A Horse On The Highway

Florida Wreck Police who were first on the scene say its a miracle no one was killed.

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the owner of a horse blamed for a wreck that first responders say should've claimed some lives.

Sandy Swindall was driving north on Hwy 29 near Molino Thursday night when a horse ran out into the road. She hit the horse which busted the windshied of her minivan and then peeled the top back like it was a tin can.

Mireli Scott was in a Ford Focus behind Swindall. When Scott hit the horse, the Focus went airborne and then rolled several times.

A third car then hit the horse.

Swindall only suffered minor injuries. Scott was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital by Life Fight. A passenger in his car, Linda Batte, was taken there by ambulance. Both are listed in serious condition. No one in the third vehicle was hurt.

KX, no kidding. Horses are livestock. Owners should be held liable if we are negligent in maintaining the fencing. A driver is supposed to control their vehicle while in motion. If I rear-end some idiot who slams on his brakes or pulls in front of me, I am liable. Where are all the lawsuits and blame when someone’s loose dog gets in the road and wrecks my car or causes me to swerve into a ditch to avoid it?

This is one of the things I worry about so much with my horses. If a tree falls on the fence while you’re at work, and one gets out and runs in the road, you’re held responsible. So not only do you morn the loss of your beloved horse, you’ve got some jerk making you buy him a new car.

If this would have been a wild deer the car owner’s insurance would have paid for it.

....one of my friend,,,years ago,,she hit a horse,,and the horse went thru the windshild,,kill the horse,,lucky she was alive and well..she lost some of he bottom teeth from this wreck,,,lol…wait till she read this..!!...lol…
