MILTON, Florida -
Josh Staudt is lucky he's around to share his survival story. On Saturday, Staudt says he and his best friend were playing video games inside his Milton apartment when two masked men kicked down the door and ordered them to hand over their money. One of the intruders had a gun, the other was carrying a knife.

"I figured out it was a real gun and that's when we decided to get on the ground and cooperate as long as possible until we found an opening to take action," says Staudt.

Staudt and his friend found that opening and quicly turned the tables on their attackers. There was a struggle and Staudt says he was able to grab the knife from one of the attackers and then stabbed the suspect multiple times to protect himself. The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital and will be charged. The other intruder is still on the run. Investigators say Staudt will not be charged because he was defending himself.

"If it's your residence, you have the right to defend yourself and your property," says Capt. David Cox with the Milton Police Dept.

"Nobody wants to be a victim and that's what we decided," says Staudt. "We weren't going to be the victims and they tried to put us in that victim situation but we turned around and made them victims."
