Erin Markes has regained custody of her 4-year-old boy who only weighed 10 lbs. when he was brought to the hospital back in March.

At a hearing this morning, a judge granted the 19-year-old Pace mother's motion for reunification as long has her son remains in Hospice care.

The Department of Children and Families contacted the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office on March 12th when Markes' son was brought to Sacred Heart Hospital. She was originally charged with child neglect, but those charges were dropped last month. Markes and her supporters say the boy suffers from Lissencephaly, a rare and often fatal brain condition that can cause dramatic weight loss.

News 5 was the only TV station at today's custody hearing. We'll have a full report tonight on News 5 at 5:00 and 6:00.

20 years ago the State of Florida Division of Child and Family Services had entirely too much power and jurisdiction and that remains true today.  Granted there are abused children out there but all to often overzealous Social Workers take their power way too far.

Yeah right. I’m sure that this is the only thing that made him this way. Idiots!!!!!!! Children having children.
