According to Sgt. Scott Haines, a deputy tried to pull Dukes over Wednesday for a traffic violation on Galt City Road in Milton. But Dukes took off and lead the deputy on a short chase. When he finally stopped on Burbank Drive, Dukes had white powder smeared all over his face. He got out of the car, pushed the deputy and took off.
Dukes stopped 30 feet down the road and got into a fighting stance. During the confrontation, both men fell to the ground. Dukes got on top of the deputy and punched him in the head.
Dukes took off again and was tackled by the deputy 10 yards down the road.
After a short fight, Dukes managed to get away a third time. He ran into a thick wooded area. Numerous deputies and K-9 officers searched the woods for Dukes, but came up empty.
Deputies went back to Dukes' vehicle. They found three plastic baggies with cocaine residue sitting on the front seat. They also found several pieces of cocaine. Deputies believe Dukes was attempting to swallow the cocaine during the police chase.
If you see Dukes or know where he is, please call Crime Stoppers or the Sheriff’s Office. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
