Local Soldier Killed

Pensacola Us Army  Military authorities are investigating
the death of a Florida Panhandle soldier in Iraq.

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - Military authorities are investigating
the death of a Florida Panhandle soldier in Iraq.
Pentagon officials say 24-year-old Staff Sgt. Darris Dawson of
Pensacola died Sunday in Tunnis, Iraq. A 26-year-old soldier from
Texas was also killed.
According to a statement, both soldiers died of wounds suffered
in a "non-hostile incident." No other details were released,
except that the incident was under investigation.
The soldiers were based at Fort Stewart, Georgia, and assigned
to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat
Team, 3rd Infantry Division.
