Wiping back tears, Angela Leavitt stood before Judge Ron Swanson Friday and plead guilty to unlawful sexual activity with a minor. In June, the 28-year old mother of two was arrested and accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year old co-worker. Leavitt and the boy worked together at a fast-food restaurant in the Milton area. Leavitt was the boy's boss.
Judge Swanson reminded Leavitt the crime she plead guilty to carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence, but during the hearing, Swanson indicated he might be lenient because of the guilty plea. The judge also reminded Leavitt she would be forced to register as a sex offender in the state of Florida.
In the neighborhood where Leavitt and her husband once lived together and raised their two children, people are still wondering why this attractive woman, who seemed to have it all, took a path to destruction.
"It's kind of upsetting," says Helen Riha, Leavitt's former neighbor. "They've been good neighbors, she's been a good mother, can't fault her for that, she made the wrong decision. Hopefully they'll be lenient with her because she just got visitation rights with her children. It's sad."
Leavitt will be sentenced January 8th. She's currently free on bond.
