Santa Rosa County Sheriff's deputies look for any bit of evidence linking a dead abandoned baby to its mother“Anytime a child is found discarded in a wooded area it's disturbing,” says Sergeant Scott Haines.
The body of the infant was found by a dog that brought it to the wood line Monday. Late Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff's office released the 911 call from the dog's owner. The sheriff's office is asking for your help to find the baby's mother.
“Obviously someone out there knows this girl was pregnant and they're a close friend and they're not pregnant anymore,” says Haines. As investigators continue to comb this wooden area neighbors say they're shocked by the discovery in this normally quiet neighborhood.
“We moved out here for that, to get away from the hustle and bustle, I’m mean it's very quiet out here,” says Frank Sanders. If you have information you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 850-437-STOP.
