Tuesday 1:49 p.m.- The Escambia County Sheriff's Office has identified the inmate as 54-year-old Jerome Arnold.
- Arnold was sentenced to 11 month’s and 30 days in jail back in September for an aggravated assault and improper display of a deadly weapon.
- Autopsy results are still pending. Foul play is not suspected.
Monday 10:09 p.m.
The Escambia County, Florida Sheriff's Office says an inmate was found unresponsive in his jail cell Monday afternoon. Jail workers called rescue crews and started CPR on the man. The inmate was taken to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. He was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office says the inmate has been in the jail since September. He was 54 years old and had health problems. His name is not being released until his family has been told of his death.
