Pensacola celebrates its’ 450 birthday this summer, and the historical society is reveling in it's 'phantom' past.

"There's several stories about sounds upstairs,” says ghost tour guide Beverly Stagg talking about the Arbona building. That’s where the mile long walking tour begins.

"There are some unusual happenings in this building. Sometimes there's just a creepy feeling that someone is watching them. And indeed when this building was renovated in the 1940s, they were digging out back, and they found a skeleton of a man who had died in a knife fight."

Beverly says a ghost by the name of 'Mrs. Dorr' has a bit of a temper.
"When one of the tour guides described Mrs. Dorr as being fat, there was suddenly a push from behind and the tour guide almost fell down the steps."

There are two different types of tours...one that's family friendly and one that's a little more risqué'.

"We have a red light district tour which takes you to where the old bars and brothels use to be."
The tours begin Friday night at 7:00 pm. They last for about one hour. There are four tours both Friday and Saturday night this month. And then for one weekend each month throughout the summer.
Admission for adults is 10 dollars, and children 5 dollars. You can even rent a ‘ghost monitor’ for 5 dollars. All proceeds benefit the Pensacola Historical Society. If you have any questions, call 850-595-1559.
