A couple of kicks to the front door and two masked gunmen were inside a home in the Myrtle Grove Community of Escambia County, Florida. They identified themselves as police and demanded money. Eventually, they were scared away by the home security system.
The victim of the violent home invasion didn't want to appear on camera but neighbors say what was once quiet neighborhood is now filled with fear.
"There was like twelve cop cars all down the front of this street," Tammy Thompson lives just up the street. "It's a very good neighborhood. We don't have any problems."
That all seemed to change overnight for neighbor Jessica Simmons. "Nothing has ever happened like this ever. No break-ins, nothing. We've not had to worry about people getting their door kicked in nothing like that."
The two masked gunmen may have targeted one house but the lives of everyone on this street has been affected.
"I'm scared for what happened to the kids across the street. It makes me feel like if that happened to the kids that pretty much the people who did it they are not going to care what happens and I'm afraid it could happen in broad daylight," says Simmons.
"I hope it's an isolated incident, it kind of scared me this morning that especially, like I say, with my grand babies and all here," says Thompson.
The victims tell News Five the men held guns to their children's head while demanding cash. The two suspects are still on the loose.
