One of the seven men charged with the murder of Byrd and Melanie Billings told investigators that the alleged mastermind, Leonard Gonzalez Jr, was the sole shooter.
The Billings, a couple known for adopting special needs children, were killed during a home invasion July 9 at their home in Beulah, Florida. Seven people, including Fredrick Thornton and Gonzalez Jr, have been charged with murder. An eighth person, Pamela Long Wiggins, is charged with being an accessory after the fact.
According to court documents obtained by News 5, Thornton said everyone met at Wiggins' antique shop in Gulf Breeze after the murders and gave Wiggins all the guns used in the crime.
The safe stolen from the Billings home, along with the weapons used in the home invasion, were later recovered from Wiggins' home on Ramblewood Drive.
Court documents released Tuesday reveal what was found during a search of Wiggins 2005 Chevy Venture. The most interesting items are a pair of blue jeans
with what's believed to be blood on them, a purse with $1,115 dollars in it, and a pill bottle with 39 identified pills.
The Sheriff's Office has not yet released any more information about the three persons of interest they're looking for.
