Funeral Arrangements Announced For Deputies

Florida Okaloosa County  Okaloosa County Deputies Burt Lopez and Warren "Skip" York were shot and killed Saturday while trying to arrest Joshua Cartwright for beating his wife.

Two Okaloosa County deputies killed in the line of duty will be buried later this week.

Burt Lopez and Warren "Skip" York were shot and killed Saturday while trying to arrest Joshua Cartwright for beating his wife. Cartwright was later shot and killed in a shootout with deputies in Walton County.

Lopez leaves behind a wife and five children, ages eight to 28. York leaves behind a wife and a 10-year-old son.

A joint visitation for Deputies Lopez and York will be held Wednesday from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at the Crestview Community Center (1446 Commerce Center).

Funeral services for Deputy Lopez will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church (951 Ferdon Boulevard) in Crestview. The burial will be at Heritage Gardens Cemetery (2201 Partin Drive North) in Niceville.

Funeral services for Deputy York will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church (110 Saint Mary Avenue SW) in Fort Walton Beach. The burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery (80 Hovey Road) in Pensacola.
