PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - If a chance to help choose the next
president of the United States isn't enough to get some voters to
the polls, maybe a free beer is.
The HandleBar in Pensacola is offering a free beer to anyone who votes. Customers must trade their "I Voted" stickers for the free drinks.
The offer is good for early voters and those who vote on Nov. 4.
This is the third year that the HandleBar has offered free beers
to voters.

cont 2; on lawyers. i had a google link i tried to post to link to the case file on his appeal but cant find it. search his name on google, oh its billy jack danner, not tanner. i just thought it was outrageous for tyson to prosecute him for it when he had enough to deal with already, and evidently so did the appeals court. it completly reversed the circuit courts decision. i dont personally know the guy, and i am old and have never been arrested for dui, and couldnt tell you the last time i have even had a beer this year. anyway i am tired and going to sleep, just wanted to answer your question.

carl: really like the new board, i’ll be on next week when i get home. tell evferyone hello for me.

ccm

One of our local bars is offering drink specials for people who voted.

cont: my point about the fellow in fairhope was his name is billy jack tanner. in 2005 0r 2006 he had been visiting relatives somewhere in mississippi close by, and was returning home. he drifted over the line in daylight hours and was involved in an accident where his stepdaughter was killed. he wasnt drunk and passed a breathalizer but confessed to drinking one or two beers earlier in the day. although he also had to deal with the death of his step child, he spent a bunch of oney defending himself from vehichlar (SP) homocide charges. he was found guilty and sentenced to jail time, when he needed the money for counselling and for his wife. he wasnt drunk but the DA insisted on prosecuting him (Mobile county) it was a trumped up charge but MADD pressured the DA into prosecuting it. (Well he wasnt drunk so lets find another law to persecute/prosecute him with. wasted time and money on something they had no business getting involved in. of course overturned on appeal after thousands

morning carl, you are right i am still up here till monday, gotta get my money while i can.

mom; my initial response was to your comment about it being against the law to drive after drinking a beer. its not, and shouldnt be. i dont really drink very often but if i want to have a beer at a restaurant i should be able to get one. my point was that its not against the law to drive after drinking a beer or two, its only against the law if your bac is above the point zero eight.

and now i see the signs that buzzed driving is against the law on highway 59, sponsored by MADD. i have also seen signs proporting that driving sleepy is in the same catagory. when in fact its not, we are all tired at some point while we operate our cars and trucks, but we sholdnt be considered criminals. you think i wont be tired monday driving home to vote after working all night sunday night? i woudlnt want to think i am risking going to jail by doing it. how many people are tired on friday driving home?

I think Claycity is up in Tennessee doing his medical thing for a few days, but when he gets back make him fess up with,as Paul Harvey use to say,THE REST OF THE STORY. Just call him “THE FENCE RIDER” over there on his PONDEROSA. grin

Claycitymadness:  More info please.  I do not understand what the man was charged with.  If he was not under the influence then why did you bring it up?  Was he charged with vehicular homicide or wreckless endangerment?  If so, why?  I know there are some crooked DA’s and LEO’s out there but each statute has specific criteria that must be met before someone can be charged with that crime and when it goes before a judge or a jury the test of the evidence supporting said statute comes under scrutiny.  I’m not arguing with you, I just hate to see an injustice done to anyone but I also hate to see misleading facts about a case. Just would like to know more, please

I’d rather drink before I vote this year.

smile

mom: its really not against the law to drink a beer and drive, its against the law to consume enough to where you are at 0.08 or greater in your BAT. i remember we used to be able to drink a beer at lunch and then go back to work flying or operating dangerous equiptment, no limit on the size, it could just be one beer.

MADD has gotten kinda of outrageous with thier support of prosecution, in mobile last year they prosecuted a fellow named danner for being tired. he wasnt under the influence, had been driking very earlier in the day, but was not under the influence. there was a tradgedy and his step daughter was killed, something he will live with forever but he wasnt under the influence when the accident happened.

Wonder if kenny stabler and judge sweet will be there for the free beer.

This may be illegal.  I hope they look into it.  First of all, I hope this article is a total lie.  Otherwise, The HandleBar is not trustworthy.  The article says “Free beer to anyone who votes”.  I doubt that very seriously.  You can vote at 18, 19 and 20 years of age.  You can only legally drink at 21 years of age.  If WKRG need a good writer, and they do, let me know.  Because, this article is very misleading.  I know someone that thinks they are smarter than me is going to say maybe they get a root beer.  No need to say it, I just did.  The article would still be misleading for not stating that fact.
