Former Okaloosa Co. Sheriff Pleads Guilty

Florida Pensacola  Charlie Morris plead guilty in federal court to stealing $114000. He faces up to 85 years in prison.

Former Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges Tuesday in Pensacola.

Prosecutors allege Morris and his former office manager, Teresa Adams, created fictitious bonuses for sheriff's department employees then pocketed some of the money. According to an audit, Morris bought himself 41 new cars during 12 years in office.

Last month, Morris entered a plea of not guilty. But he has since changed his mind. Tuesday, Morris confessed to stealing $114,000. He faces up to 85 years in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 28th.

Maybe Morris should have lived in Mobile, our elected officials steal all the time and get away with it.

I think he will get 20 years and his hair will get another 45 years.

That does sound kind of out there for that crime in comparison to some others.

Don’t forget, our guy in Mobile stole about the same amount of money from the inmate food fund. Did he go to jail?

Changed his mind, or pleading for a lesser charge.  I hope that this will be on every elected officials mind for awhile.  The taxpayers don’t give you money to buy cars and gamble.  Lord only knows what else.
