More than 100 people will spend their Memorial Day searching for a missing Air Force Pilot.2nd Lt. John Alley went to work at Whiting Field NAS Friday, but never made it home. His wrecked 1996 Toyota Corolla was found around 5 a.m. Saturday off the Escambia Bay side of Scenic Highway near Summit Boulevard in Pensacola.
Alley's keys were still in the ignition. His wallet, containing cash and credit cards, and cell phone were all still in the car. There was no sign of blood.
Family, friends, search crews and K-9 units looked for Alley on Saturday and Sunday. Both searches came up empty.
Alley's father flew down from Utah to help in the search. His sister also flew down from Colorado. The family is convinced Alley walked away from the crash and that he's injured and disoriented.
Alley is a newlywed. He and his wife moved to Milton 10 months ago. The couple is expecting their first child.
The family is asking for volunteers. If you would like to join the search, call 720.333.6029
