PENSACOLA, Florida - Leo Weatherspoon says he's lost his best friend.
"It's just like losing my daddy or my grandmother or somebody you know, I came by here just to see the spot because I couldn't believe it, man. Uncle Dave never did nothing but help everybody, I don't care if you were black or white."
Weatherspoon and his neighbors still can't believe what happened at this house on Crescent Drive early Sunday. A family member found the body of 81-year old Derry Dickerson on the living room floor. Friends say Dickerson, known locally as "Uncle Dave," had been stabbed to death.
"Uncle Dave was one of a kind," says Weatherspoon. "There will never be another Uncle Dave and he was there for everybody and we all loved him."
"He didn't have any enemies," says neighbor Steven Green. "I can't sleep at night because of this mess."
Homicide investigators were at the crime scene again Monday interviewing Dickerson's friends and developing new leads. So far, detectives have not made an arrest or released a motive.
