Illegal dogfighting has gotten so bad in the Sunshine State, the attorney general has created a new, animal fighting tip line. A-G Bill McCollum made the announcement Monday. The toll-free tip-line will allow Floridians to call in anonymous tips concerning illegal animal fighting. Tipsters are also eligible for a cash reward up to five-thousand dollars.
"I encourage people to call," says Liz Ohlhorst with the Pensacola Humane Society. "The animals can't talk for themselves, they're in horrendous conditions, they live very shot, terrible lives and anything we can do to get them out of that and rehabilitated is wonderful."
The state of Florida ranks third in the U-S for the number of reported dog-fighting cases.
The Humane Society Animal Fighting Tip Line is: 1-877-847-4787.
