Do You Know Where Your Husband Is?

Florida Pensacola Sheriff to send letters to wives whose husbands were arrested for soliciting prostitution

In an effort to stop prostitution and clean up some of Escambia County's less desirable neighborhoods, sheriff's deputies in Escambia County, Florida, will soon be informing women about their spouse's unethical and illegal behavior.

Sheriff David Morgan will send out letters to wives of men who have been charged with soliciting prostitution. The unusual law enforcement tactic is meant to embarrass, humiliate and discourage the "John" from buying sex off the nearest street corner. Women we spoke to like the idea.

"It'll embarrass them but they deserve it fully," says Cheryl Reeves. "You go out messing with other women, you'll come home with all kinds of diseases. I'm all for it."

The idea of sending out letters to wives also has the approval of the local health department.

"We have high rates of sexually transmitted diseases," says Dr. John Lanza, director of the Escambia Co. Health Dept. "This initiative would help us in lowering those rates and it's good for public health and it's an interesting way of doing things."

I wonder if this is going to lead to more men raping women, since they’ll have more to fear in picking up a hooker?

A hooker could be a cop, which could really suck.
But rape victim? There’s a 9 in 10 chance it’ll go unreported!

Maybe you are worried about letters to your address.

Just as the reporter states:  “The unusual law enforcement tactic is meant to embarrass, humiliate and discourage the “John” from buying sex off the nearest street corner”  and is NOT over their concern for the wives welfare.

At the very best it’ll serve to make “John” shop elsewhere.  Perhaps he’ll spend that extra cash in Mobile county.

I find it very distasteful.

“Might have” would be enough for most wives…..

Great idea, if the business goes away so do the prostitutes.  These letters are just to let the spouse or significant other know there may be a POSSIBILTY he has been with a prostitute and MAY have contracted a STD, not he is guilty and has one.

Isn’t this kind of like a double jeopardy deal?  What happens the first time one of these wives shoots one of these husbands?

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

Arrested does not mean GUILTY! What happened to the presumption of innocence?

Ethics aside, isn’t this kind of like a heads up for these men? Why announce it before you do it?  It’s just like announcing where the DUI check points are going to be. They’ll still get a few but now these guys will be driving home at lunch everyday to pick up the mail.

This is one main reason men refuse to stop and ask anyone for directions.  Entrapment, just like in the movie Pretty Woman. That will cost you $10.00 smile

Fantastic idea for both men/women not just one or the other…little more revenue for the city!
