Copper Bust At Middle School

A man accused of trying to steal copper from a Pensacola elementary school told police he did it because "my girlfriend is giving me a hard time about not having a job."

Larry Dirden is charged with burglary for trying to steal copper from Brownsville Middle School. Deputies say a witness saw him near an air conditioning unit. The witness called authorities. Deputies chased down Dirden and captured him on school property.
Larry Dirden is in the Escambia County Jail on a $7,500 bond.

I think i smell the odor of “addiction, that’s just the best excuse he could come up with at the time. If he needed money that bad he could has sold some plasma or something. Imagine the poor kids burning up in the classroom cause of this man stealing their air-conditioning coils.

Probably not! His girl friend will probably put up the $750 needed to get him out and then she will probably send him out to steal enough to cover her money for bail and then he’ll have to get enough to cover his fines and extra for what ever he wants! A never ending cycle, but if you make people like this work up a good sweat every day during confinement it tends to break that cycle and mentality. Another words, make’m work their butts off and they’ll remember it longer.

That goes right along the line of career criminals thinking” Why should I get a job and have to work and sweat when I can go out and steal what I need”. Give him a job of making little rocks out of big rocks!
