HOLLEY, Fla. (AP) - The military is investigating how a
4-year-old child fell from the back of a pickup and died while
riding through a Panhandle Air Force .
The child, whose name has not been released, died Wednesday
after he fell from the truck while his family was driving through
base on the Eglin Air Force Base reservation.
Officials say the family was nonmilitary. Base spokesman Los
Walsh says it appears the boy lost his balance and fell. The boy
and another child were riding in the truck bed.

I’m surprised so many people are already taking my stance on this…
Every other time some kid gets killed due to bad parents, people freak out on me…
For example, the boy that drowned when he snuck out, even though they knew he could get out of the house…The boy killed while illegally operating an ATV, both just as preventable as this one, but for some reason you guys are seeing it differently!?

I have to agree that it’s the parents fault 100% IMO.  It’s not like the child wandered off to the back of the truck, the two children were being allowed to ride in the back. I believe there are laws prohibiting riders in the back of pick-ups anyways especially with the seat belt laws in all U.S. States.

katiesupermonkey:

I’m sure you have heard of people being sentenced up to 20 years for a DOG falling out of the back of a moving truck. That was an accident too, but it still doesn’t make the owner any less NEGLIGENT!

I understand this family is suffering a horrible loss and ALL of us here are sending up our prayers.

If you honestly think that as careless as parents are becoming with the welfare and safety of their children nowadays that this accident wont be repeated by someone who didn’t learn a lesson by learning of THIS child’s death….you are sadly mistaken.

“You just cant change stupid”

As sad as it is this wont be the last time we hear of another “accident” like this. He had no business in the back of that truck alone at 4 years old….now he is dead, who do you think should be held accountable ?

OK supermonkey, was the 4 yo child in the back of the truck?  Was the truck moving? If you answer yes to these two questions you as big a fool as the one driving. I agree this family is sad and feeling a great loss right now, but the fact remains that if the story is right, the driver and/or parents of this child are 100% at fault.

Who the heck do you people think you are it was an accident. You have no idea what you are talking about that family is dealing with a loss. You read a 5 sentence piece and think you know everything. Ignorance is bliss… I wish that family my dearest sympathy, please know you are all in our prayers…

I hope they nail this dumb *ss to the wall.

The human race should really stop reproducing, the more I’m forced to be around stupid people in public…the more I like my cat.

May the driver of this truck have the blood of this childs death on his hands forver!!!!

What idiot lets children ride on the back of a pickup??  It is never OK for a child to ride on a back of a truck for any length of time, EVER.  Why didnt he just let him ride on the hood. Stupid, stupid, stupid.  And it is not the childs fault, he was 4 for God’s sake, he didnt know any better.
