Billings Suspects Plead Not Guilty to Capital Murder

The six men and one teenager charged with capital murder in the deaths of Byrd & Melanie Billings all pleaded not guilty Thursday morning in a Pensacola court room.

Leonard Gonzalez, Jr, his father, Wayne Coldiron, Donnie Stallworth, Frederick Thornton, Gary Sumner and 16-year-old Rakeem Florence are accused of killing the Billings July 9th at their home in Beulah. The wealthy couple adopted 13 special needs children,

A grand jury indicted all seven suspects on two counts of capital murder on Tuesday. State Attorney Bill Eddins says he does not know yet whether he will seek the death penalty.

Trial days were set for October, November and December, but Eddins says the first case will not actually go to trial for at least a year.
