The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office says 35-year-old Erich Brinkmeier turned himself in today (Thursday) and was charged with 1st degree battery on an elderly person.
The victim, Burdette Miller, told authorities that on June 14th of this year, he was hit by a man who claimed Miller hit his car in the parking lot.
Miller says he was simply looking for a parking spot during a thunderstorm and that he never hit another car.
According to Santa Rosa County Sheriff's investigators, they were able to identify a woman who was with Brinkmeirer that day at the Home Depot. They say the woman made a call from a phone inside the store and they were able to trace the call to a home in Pace.
It turns out, the call was made to a relative of Binkmeier's.
Authorities say Brinkmeier is active duty military and is currently stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. He was booked into the Escambia County jail in Pensacola.

Yea! I can hear his excuse now, all the noise from the jet engines gave him Post Traumatic Stress and he had to relieve it by beating up on an elderly man. I waiting to see how the military treats him after the sheriff’s department gets through with him. He has homicidal tendencies and the very least he should get is a dishonorable discharge.

I already see his defense in the works, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I am so glad they caught this man! There was no excuse for what he did!

This sleaze ball doesn’t look too happy dose he ? He acts pretty bad when it’s a an old man and probably on women too ! He really makes the rest of the military people look good doesn’t he. I bet there’s a lot of other people on the base that would like to see him in the showers at night. I’ve got to give the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s investigators a big gold star on this case.

HOLY CRAP! They went through more trouble to trace a person guilty of assault, than Mobile goes through to investigate a murder! It must be nice to live somewhere where law enforcement goes the extra mile to get their man/woman! 3 cheers for The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office!! Hip Hip Hooray! shut eye
