South…so, what was your AOP in the ER… running to the coffee pot for the DR? Because if YOU live in some area of this planet where the majority of motorcycle MVA’s involve head trauma, please tell me, i’d like to work there, much less messy. As previously stated in this forum, wear your helmets. However, you honestly think that traveling at speeds of 55+ mph, and you hitting the ground, your insides aren’t going to be banged up, bruised, and potentially damaged? I worked Medevac, and Im sorry to say, 95% of my patients and/or victims injuries were internal. JMO

I’ve been a rider since I was 13 and I have to say that the two accidents I have had, were both cars turning in front of me.  Both said they didn’t see the bike even though lights were on and I was laying on the horn. Not wearing a helmet is not very smart, but not wearing the right helmet is just as bad. RIDE LIKE EVERY BODY IS OUT TO HIT YOU!!!!

My condolences to the families of both the riders.

Yes, I was on my motorcycle last April on Eslava creek coming to the Stop sign at Bel Air Blvd when a white SUV traveling south on Bel Air failed to yield turning left on Eslava in front of a Red honda car traveling north on Bel Air. The honda hit the SUV flipping and rolling it on top of me sitting at the Stop sign. The Lord was looking after me that day…I’m still here and riding my bike! As for as the lady driving the SUV, she had to be talking on her cell phone or blind not to have seen the other car. I’ve been driving 35 years and that was my first accident…all I can say is, turn the radio off, put down the cell phone and learn to drive!!!

Never seen a motorcyclist talking on a cell phone while riding. In fact haven’t seen one eating, reading, or drinking a beer going down the road. Automobile drivers ALL tend to drive with their heads up butt. Difficult to do with that helmet on. BTW, A quality helmet properly worn in most cases prevents head trauma.
Some of you should stick to topics you know. Like changing bed pans or dung examinations.

Sweet, thanks my experience working in hospital ED was that TBI or head trauma was the most likely injury. Sign your donor card.

They don’t call them donorcycles for nothing!

Im sorry guys, but today Im pulling the BS Card on yall today. I ride bikes alot. However, I also have a Honda Accord. When Im in my Honda, and I see a single headlight appear either behind me or in front of me, I am automatically more alert and defensive than the norm. Im not sure whether its from riding or not. I do, however, think its absolute bull to hear people say “you’ll be signing your life away on those things…blah blah blah.” And then, when something DOES happen, its always the bikers fault just because they are smaller and stereotyped. Not all of us are out there screaming down the road at 145 mph and cutting wheelies. This, in fact, was carelessness on the CAR DRIVERS part, and now we have a death. And…btw southfan, most MVA’s involving a motorcycle…trauma to the organs and you can’t donate. JMO

i have one, had it since 86, keep restoring it. its like a project car, looks brand new. seldom ride it, looks good on the trailer though. mostly around the neighborhood, i do trailer it to the gulf in the summer to ride down there. wouldnt seriously ride it in traffic though.

If you ride motorcycles, sign your donor card, please.

Motorcycles are dangerous and unsafe. It’s easy not to see them. Why on earth would anyone want one??

“Highway Patrol say the SUV pulled in front of the motorcycle causing the collision”

“Florida Highway patrol say charges could be pending”

Another accident where someone was killed by another’s recklessness, and no charges are filed.

This is a disturbing pattern both in Mobile and Pensacola.
