MOBILE, Alabama - Even three days before Christmas, a lot of people are going to the store to buy last minute Christmas gifts. There are many different reasons why people shop at the last minute.
David McFadden of Mobile said he was looking for “a couple of Christmas stockings.”
Stacey Pratt of Mobile said, "I'm actually shopping for my mom and my maw-maw because they live in a town that doesn't have stores, and they, at the last minute, asked me to find the Crayola Crayon Maker for my niece."
Debbie Robinson of Mobile said she was looking for stocking stuffers because what she had now was mostly “Pringles and Certs.”
But one couple I talked to said the reason they put off Christmas shopping is a problem faced by a lot of people this year.
When asked why he waited until the last minute, Theo Jackson said, “Money. The economy is bad.”
His wife, Laquanda Jackson said, “We try to spend money on what they (their children) need because the economy is so bad. You just don't have the money to get the thing that they really, really want. But if they get what they need, it will be better for them."
