WASHINGTON, D.C. - Thousands of people marched to the nation’s Capitol on Saturday, carrying signs and chanting as they protested the president's health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending.

The line of protesters stretched across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks. Demonstrators waved U.S. flags, held signs and chanted slogans such as “enough, enough” and “you lie, you lie!” FreedomWorks Foundation, a conservative organization led by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, organized groups from across the country for what they called a "March on Washington." Organizers say they built on momentum from the April "tea party" demonstrations held nationwide to protest tax policies, along with growing resentment over the economic stimulus packages and bank bailouts.

I can’t imagine what our country would be if we had NOT acted after we were attacked on 9/11. Billions wasted? For what? To protect our freedoms and our country? If the war is such a “problem” then why do we have men and women enlisting everyday? Why do we have men and women signing up for multiple tours of duty, some even after an injury?

I think the numbers will be much higher than “thousands,” once the final counts are in from across the nation. This was not about being anti-Obama, or being on the right,or the left-it was about government being too much in control, and not representing WE THE PEOPLE-but representing the special interests. It was about the out of control spending and corruptness throughout the system of DC.

It was nice to hear on CBS last night, that “now, they will have to listen.” And yes, they will-because if they don’t, I can guarantee, there are going to be some unemployed politicians. They need to remember-they work for ME-not the other way around. I don’t work for THEM to support maniacal spending and pork projects!

i think its the far edges of both sides tossing insults and barbs back and fourth thats causing a lot of this that we see in the news. most of us are probably more moderate, although i could be mistaken. each far side is trying to distract us form the real mission, getting our economy and lives back on track. i wasnt ready to sell my farm yet anyway.

Did anyone else see where our congressmen and senators voted to make them selves exempt from the new health care programs? Or what about that ABC interview with the president where he was asked if the president and his family would join this health care program and he refused to answer the question? It seems what applies to the people paying their salaries doesn’t apply to them.Go gettem TEA PARTIERS!

I think it has to do with more than just the money.  A majority of people in this country were against the stimulus bill, but they rammed it through anyway.  People were against the auto bailout, they did it anyway.  People were outraged over the new budget, they did it anyway.  Now they want to seize our health care and turn it into something unrecognizable.  People do not trust them!

Then add all these “Czars” that do not have to be vetted or confirmed by congress and people start to get nervous.  And, their outrage continues to build.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Bush was in office for eight years. Obama has been in office for seven months. Obama has already outspent every single president we have ever had. In seven months. Whats it gonna be like in at the end of his term?

I have a hard time understanding that line of thinking, especially two days after the anniversary of 9/11.

Bush spent billions over his 8 years with two wars, Katrina, etc.  So why are people upset that Obama has spent trillions within 7 months?  WTH kind of BS thinking is that?

From what I saw yesterday, this protest was about a whole lot more than just the debt.  It was about the growth of federal government and the infringement upon individual rights.

Why didn’t these people care about the BILLIONS of dollars wasted in Iraq and Afghanistan? I can’t begin to guess at the amount of money the US will spend over the lifetime of the more than 20k who were mamed or disabled.

Mission accomplished?
